Meet the Makers Event 2019

Come to a Very Special Event, on Saturday 7th December 2019

Can you think of a better way to start off your Christmas preparations than coming along to Burford's popular annual Meet the Makers Day?

On Saturday 7th December 2017, we will once again be celebrating all the people who contribute to making Burford such a special place. Every year we invite the wonderful designers, manufacturers, authors, artists and small businesses behind our lovely products to come in and chat to our customers, do demonstrations and tastings, and provide you with plenty of Christmas gift ideas.

We'll be welcoming the amazing artist, designer and author, Dee Hardwicke, who will be on hand with knitting advice and creating design-led knits with beautiful Rowan yarns. Chat to potter Russell Collins and his grandson and fellow potter Tom Bartlett about life behind the potter's wheel. Russell's exhibition 365 Days in Clay and sale in aid of Prostate Cancer Uk continues at Burford.

Look out for iconic penmakers Kaweco, who will be demonstrating their very clever pen-making machine. Discover how speciality, high-grade coffee makers New Ground Coffee, balance their passion for great coffee with their belief in social responsibility. Sample intriguing variations on a theme from Sloemotion.

Artisan makers 40 Colori can tell you all about how they have combined Italian style with London design flair for their fabulous collection of accessories.

With live music, delicious artisan food and drink tastings, seasonal cheer and more makers to meet, do join us.

This very festive event, from 10am till 5pm, coincides with Small Business Saturday, a campaign that encourages people to shop locally.

Also, for all the art lovers out there, we'll be joined in the Burford Gallery by artists Rupert Aker, Caroline Chappell, Susie Wright, Abigail Waddell, Sally Wyatt, and Michael Bell. Wireworker Luigi Frosini from topiary and wirework sculpture experts Agrumi, offer artwork of a very different kind. Fun and eye-catching, such as our magical horse dressed with fairy lights and foliage mane, Agrumi will be here to chat about their hand-made pieces, which always inspire and surprise.

Do drop in and meet the wonderful people behind our products. As always, there will plenty of food and drink in our beautiful café, plus live music to entertain you, so you can get into the Christmas mood while taking a creative journey through the store.
