Our Store and Cafés are fully open

Dear Friends

We hope all our customers, producers and growers are managing to keep themselves healthy and safe during the current Coronavirus outbreak. It is certainly a worrying time for us all.

We can confirm we are fully open to the public again, with sensible, safe distancing measures in place.

The Store is open with our regular opening hours, as follows:

9am - 6pm Mondays to Saturdays

11am - 5pm on Sundays


Opening hours for our Main Café are 9:00am to 5:30pm Monday to Saturday and 10:30am to 5:00pm on Sundays.

Our Planters Café, outside, next to our Flower Market, is open from 11:00am to 4:30pm 7 days a week.


A Note About Our Cafés

Following the recent government announcements and the reintroduction of further restrictions, we are delighted both our cafés will remain fully open, with our normal opening hours and our continued safe distancing measures in place.

There is no need to book, but please be advised that in line with the recent changes in the law, you will need to register your visit through a 'Track and Trace' app, or manually leave your details with us. You will be required to do so prior to entering our cafés. Face coverings must be worn at all times (optional for children aged 11 and under), apart from when eating or drinking at your table.

As we do not serve alcohol in our café, we are not required to offer full table service. However all food and drink must be consumed seated and at a table, as has always been the case. At present, we also offer a takeaway service from both cafés, for people wishing to take their food or drink home, but this cannot be consumed in the store.

Lunchtimes and weekends are our busiest times in our cafés. There will be a short wait at peak times. We will always do our best to get you served and seated as quickly as we can, but we will only do so safely, so please be patient.

Please note, we no longer accept cash as a form of payment (see below) as there is strong evidence this is a vector for virus transmission.


Before You Visit Burford Garden Company

We may need to limit the number of people in the store at any one time, to facilitate safe, social distancing. This can mean you will need to queue for a short while at busy times, at a sensible distance from others, before entering the store.

Our shopping trolleys and baskets are cleaned and disinfected after each use. We have hand sanitiser available for visitors to use at our entrance point and at exit points. You will be asked to remain at least a safe 2 metre distance from other customers and our employees at all times, and we will ask you to pay particular attention to signage and guidance at our tillpoints. We will be doing our best to minimise any delays, but please do be patient.

Etiquette

We would like to remind all visitors to follow the safety guidelines we have implemented, and in particular to respect the personal space of other visitors at this point in time. We all have different attitudes to risk, and some people will understandably be more apprehensive than others. We also know how easy it is to occasionally forget the new distancing rules, but it is our intention to try to provide the most comfortable and safe shopping experience we can for all visitors, and we can only do so if we all help each other.

Face Masks and Face Coverings

In line with the latest government requirements, wearing of masks in shops and cafés is a legal requirement. All visitors to the store (with the exception of young children for whom this requirement remains optional) are required to wear a face covering or face mask for the duration of their visit, except when eating or drinking in our cafés. We have been advised that visitors to shops who do not wear masks may face a fine of up to £200 for non-compliance.

All of our regular visitors freely choose to wear a face covering, and nobody should feel uncomfortable doing so. Everything goes in our corner of the Cotswolds and we have seen some wonderfully creative face coverings over the past few weeks.

Families

Families are welcome, although we do ask parents of young children to ensure their energetic youngsters are kept by their side at all times, and to be mindful of other visitors in the store. Please note our outdoor, natural play area is currently open, but this is reviewed daily and may close at short notice for safety reasons.

Quieter Shopping Times

At the moment the first hour in the day (from 9am) during the week is a quieter time for shopping, along with the final hour (from 5pm); this last hour is a particularly lovely time to visit and shop.

Payment - No Cash

Please note we are only accepting payments by debit or credit card, contactless (subject to national limit), mobile payments, digital wallets (Apple Pay and so forth) or our gift cards and vouchers. We are no longer accepting cash, or cheques, as a form of payment, as there is growing evidence this is a particular vector for virus transmission.

Safe Online Shopping as an Alternative

Our ONLINE STORE is also open, with a home delivery service available both locally and nationally. Our online store is, however, just a snippet of our full offer, and wherever possible we would always recommend a visit in person. We will do our best to fulfil any orders placed online in a timely fashion, but we will only do so whilst this continues to be permitted by the government and we deem it safe to do so.

Due to high demand for online shopping during this period, there may be some delays to normal delivery times. Generally speaking, deliveries are being fulfilled within 5 working days of us receiving your order, but please allow up to 10 days to be on the safe side, and slightly longer for larger items. Please be aware that this may be subject to change. For further information, please see our updated Delivery page.

Our delivery drivers are instructed to follow safe distancing guidelines at all times. Unless stated otherwise by us, please assume deliveries will be doorstep deliveries only. Where we are still able to offer an optional 'white glove' service, where furniture or larger items are delivered, assembled and positioned and all packaging cleared and removed for you, our drivers will only be able to do so if it is safe to do so, and providing you can maintain safe distancing too.

Our Team

Please be assured our staff working in the store and our delivery crew are being well looked after and are following our enhanced hygiene protocols and work to social distancing criteria. We are keeping up to date with and following all NHS, PHE and Government official guidelines. Our staff are also provided with PPE masks or face coverings and will wear these at all times, unless they have a particular medical condition which would make it riskier for them to do so.

We would be very grateful if you could follow our guidelines when visiting, as this will help keep our team happy, safe and fit.
