A Covid-19 update from Burford

An update from Burford

We are open again

Dear Friends

We hope all our customers, producers and growers are managing to keep themselves healthy and safe during the current Coronavirus outbreak. It is certainly a worrying time for us all.

We can confirm we are open to the public again, with sensible, safe distancing measures in place.

We are open for our regular opening hours, as follows:

9am - 6pm Mondays to Saturdays

11am - 5pm on Sundays

Please note our cafe remains closed temporarily, in line with government lockdown guidance. We are not currently offering a takeway service, although cold drinks to take home may be purchased from our Food Hall.

Additionally some services and products in the store may be limited or restricted until such time there is further easing of the lockdown and supply returns to pre-lockdown levels.

Before You Visit

We may need to limit the number of people in the store at any one time, to facilitate safe, social distancing. This may mean you will need to queue for a short while at busy times, at a safe distance from others, before entering the store. Our shopping trolleys and baskets are cleanerd and disinfected after each use. We have hand sanitiser available for you visitors to use at our entrance point and at exit points. You will be asked to remain at least a safe 2 metre distance from other customers and our employees at all times, and we will ask you to pay particular attention to sigange and guidance at our tillpoints. We will be doing our best to minimise any delays, but please do be patient.

Families from the same household are welcome, although we do ask parents of young children to ensure their energetic youngsters are kept by their side at all times, and to be mindful of other visitors in the store. Please note our outdoor play area remains closed until further notice, in line with government legislation.

Quieter Shopping Times and Etiquette

At the moment the first hour in the day (from 9am) during the week is a quieter time for shopping, along with the final hour (from 5pm). The last hour is a particularly lovely time to visit and shop for plants.

Many of our regular visitors choose to wear masks and gloves, and nobody should feel uncomfortable doing so. Everything goes and we hav esene some wonderfully creative face coverings over the past few weeks. Our staff are also provided with PPE masks and gloves. These are optional for them, but please do not be surprised to see them being worn, particularly inside and at till points..

Additionally please note we will only be accepting payments by debit or credit card and our gifts cards or vouchers. We will not be accepting cash as a form of payment.

We see this very much as a trial period, but providing we can maintain the safety of our staff and our customers and visitors it is our intention to continue to open with our normal opening hours as long as the governement guidance advises us it is safe to do so.

Safe Online Shopping As An Alternative

Our ONLINE STORE will also remain open, with our home delivery service available both locally and nationally. We will do our best to fulfill any orders placed in a timely fashion, but we will only do so whilst this continues to be permitted by the government and we deem it safe to do so

Due to high demand for online shopping during the lockdown period, there may be some delays to normal delivery times. Generally speaking we will do our best to deliver within 5 working days of receiving an order, but please allow up to 10 days to be on the safe side, and slightly lonbger for larger items. Please be aware that this may be subject to change. For further information, please see our updated Delivery page.

Our Team

Please be assured our staff working in the store and our delivery crew are being well looked after and are following our enhanced hygiene protocols and work to strict social distancing criteria. We are keeping up to date with and following all NHS, PHE and government official guidelines. We would be very grateful if you could follow our guidelines when visiting, as this will help keep our team happy, safe and fit.

Stay healthy everyone and try and keep your spirits up! Like you, we are looking forward to a return to normality in the future, and we will try to make each and every visit you make to us as an enjoyable as possible, irrespective of the circumstances. .

With our very best wishes,

The Team at Burford Garden Company
