Burford goes to Chelsea 2016

Burford goes to Chelsea...

With less than a week to go before Chelsea Flower Show commences, we are looking forward to all that is blooming at RHS Chelsea 2016. It is one of our favourite times of year, a time when the gardening community comes together to celebrate all that horticulture can offer us, and inspire the nation into a gardening frenzy.

This year there is a strong focus on health and wellbeing. The official RHS Garden is being designed by Ann-Marie Powell. She has created the RHS Greening Grey Britain Garden for Health, Happiness and Horticulture. We are excited to see what form this takes and delighted that gardening and health combined are in the spotlight this year.

Following on from this we will be looking out for Jekka McVicar's A Modern Apothecary Garden, inspired by conversations about taking our health into our own hands and improving it via plants and healthy living. Vestra Wealth's Garden on Mindful Living will complete this theme beautifully, and hopefully have us all in a zen state by the end of Chelsea week.

And of course there is excitement here about the incredible display of roses that will be on view. As you know, we are passionate about roses and we will be looking out for David Austin's new 'Roald Dahl' rose, developed to mark 100 years since Roald Dahl's birth and to celebrate David Austin's 90th anniversary. The Chelsea Flower Show will be open to members on 24th May, with Mary Berry launching a beautiful rose named after her; we will certainly be taking a peek at that!

We will be also looking out for our Chelsea favourites. In particular, L'Occitane's garden was truly inspiring last year, so we are in suspense to see their offering this year. As they are celebrating their 40th anniversary with a 'Homage to Provence', we expect a spectacular display.

We shall be covering the Chelsea week with daily emails and live social media updates, so to stay tuned follow us on Facebook and Twitter and sign up for our emails via the website. We are delighted to be supplying plants to Liz Earle's Chelsea in Bloom window display, 38–39 Duke of York Square, which is being created by the wonderfully talented Willow Crossely. Keep your eyes peeled for images from the display – here are some of the the plants awaiting their carriage to London...

And did you know we have our own Herb Garden here at Burford, where healthy herbs are grown and picked daily for our café menus?
