The starting point for a painting is often an experience of place. The work and its meaning evolves in the studio through distillation and translation. Process and chance are a fundamental part of working, as well as utilising the often slow, indirect and multi-layered nature of memory. The work is trying to re..member something perhaps through the freezing of time, to reveal something new about a subject as well as trying to capture its essence or illusory nature.

'I can only note that the past is beautiful because one never realises an emotion at the time. It expands later, and thus we don't have complete emotions about the present only about the past' – Virginia Woolf

'to paint not the thing but the effect it produces' – Mallarme

Plum's work has been shown widely throughout the UK, including at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition 2014 and 2016, the Royal West Academy 2014 and 2016, and the Hampstead, Battersea and Bristol Affordable Art Fairs.
