This beautiful lifesize head of a roe deer in a combination of richly toned fabrics is the creation of a fauxidermist or textile taxidermy artist. Inspired by the heavily woven and luxurious fabrics of the Mediaeval Court, this splendid 'trophy head' is an eclectic textile sculpture crafted by hand with fabrics such as velvet, chenille, silk, wool and linen. These fabrics in mediaeval times would have been dyed using roots, lichen and bark, giving deep rich autumnal colours. The antlers are real, shed naturally.
Designed to be hung on a wall, you can be as imaginative as you like with this exquisite piece. In the festive season it is the perfect place to drape twinkling lights as the centrepiece of your Christmas decorations.
Because each deer is unique, the general colour will remain the same, but fabric detail may vary from the image.
