Jute (or Hessian) Sacks are made from the loosely woven fibres of the jute plant and have numerous uses in the garden for storage or frost protection. Tough, reusable and biodegradable, when the sacks finally wear out they can be added to your compost.
Hessian (woven jute) was introduced from India in the 19th century and was extensively made into sacks because the loose fabric allowed the contents – cotton, right through to vegetables and coffee – to breath. This remains a valuable characteristic of these eco-friendly and attractive sacks.
