Tobisho is a small family business deep in the mountains of Yamagata, an area famous for the quality of its steel. All their tools are drop forged (bashed with a very heavy pneumatic hammer) out of amazing quality steel. Long blades and spring action make light work of clipping. These Tobisho topiary clippers have an incredible weight and balance, and are made with great attention to detail.
The Japanese name, hakaribasami, translates as leafcutting scissors, so you can use that to remind you not to cut into old, hard growth, but just the soft green new growth. Just the right tool for trimming box and for detailed topiary work.
Like all Japanese tools, these one-handed topiary shears are engineered to be easy on the hand with slim, well-shaped handles and sprung scissor action, and easy on the eye with their elegantly graceful, simple design.
Easy to use, chunky locking catch for safety when not in use.
L:26cm, Blade length from rivet:12cm, Weight: 275g
Spare spring and plastic blade sheath included.
Care: Sharpen weekly with a whetstone. Dunk the clippers every so often into a weak solution of bleach or Jeyes fluid, to stop the leaf resin from clogging up the blades and prevent the spreading of nasty viruses.
