Clematis viticella Betty Corning is a charming climbing plant, with masses of nodding, pale blue, slightly scented bell-shaped blooms with spreading tips. It flowers freely from midsummer to early autumn. The mid-green, pinnate leaves have three leaflets.
A very easy to grow, deciduous perennial, Betty Corning is particularly lovely grown through a tree, and ideal for training up walls, arches, pergolas and trelliswork, or in a container with an obelisk.
As with other clematis, keep the roots and the base of the plant cool, by shading with other plants or using pebbles.
