Perfect for a shady spot, the dark, erect stems of Astrantia major Roma bear pincushion-like umbels of a pale pink, surrounded by greenish wine-red bracts, from late spring into summer.
Astrantia are clump-forming herbaceous perennials that can be placed in any aspect with full sun or partial shade. They grow well in poorly draining soil, but grow best in moist but well-drained soil.
A lovely cottage garden plant. Also an exceptionally good cut flower.
