This thorny, shiny leaved, evergreen shrub produces a mass of insignificant flowers in the spring and by mid-August Pyracantha Golden Glow explodes in a mass of fiery berries that hang in densely packed bunches.
This specimen has been trained against a slightly fan-shaped frame. Commonly grown against walls or fences, the robust pyracantha will fan out farther over time to cover a large area. Its ompact branches are a favourite location in which songbirds to build their nests, particularly blackbirds, who return to feast on the berries. If overlooked by the birds, the berries will remain in situ until Christmas.
