Sambucus nigra Black Beauty is a wonderfully robust shrub, with very attractive, finely divided purple-black foliage. It bears superb, compound heads of tiny, light pink, lemon scented blooms in late spring.

A lovely ornamental form of native Elderberry with attractive foliage that adds movement when caught in a breeze, it is ideal for the back of a border where its dark colour can compliment brighter coloured plants.

Place in front of a light-coloured wall or fence, and if possible in full sun because this will deepen the foliage colour. It is also a fine candidate for a large container.
