Syringa vulgaris Souvenir de Louis Spaeth is a rich violet coloured variety of this deciduous shrub. It is now known as S. vulgaris Andenken an Ludwig Spath, a recipient of the RHS AGM (Award of Garden Merit), for all round excellence in the garden.
