The widely grown Vaccinium corymbosum Bluecrop is a mid-season variety of blueberry producing high yields of large richly flavoured light blue berries. Elegant,
bell-shaped creamy-white flowers in the spring are perfect for pollinators. As the days shorten, the stems redden and the glossy-green foliage turns an attractive bronze, giving extra autumn interest.
Blueberries are packed with packed with antioxidants, high in dietary fibre and an excellent source of manganese. Eat fresh, or make delicious muffins, jams, jellies and desserts; the fruits freeze well.
One of the best blueberries for a container, Vaccinium Bluecrop is a fast-growing plant, with an upright habit and a good resistance to disease. It is great for colder climates, and makes a lovely edible hedge. Bluecrop is self-fertile, but crops better when it has companion blueberries.
