Osmunda regalis purpurascens is an attractive deciduous fern with delicately divided, arching fronds that unfurl from purple flushed fiddleheads in spring. The leaves turn bright green in summer then mellow to golden yellow in autumn.
An ideal waterside plant, it enjoys bog gardens and damp borders and thrives in even full shade.
