Wonderfully compact, Helleborus niger Jasper is an improved variety of the traditional Christmas Rose. It produces a mass of buds and outward-facing flowers in late autumn that tumble over dark, evergreen foliage. The single, nicely shaped blooms, with their clearly defined, golden eyes, are lightly fragrant. The buds of H. Jasper emerge a creamy white and as they mature the petals (in reality sepals) take on a light green tinted before blushing pale pink.
