Buddleia davidii Wisteria Lane is a new and particularly lovely variety. As its name suggests, the soft purple flowers – unusually large, up to 50cm in length – are pendant, and hang elegantly from the branches like wisteria blooms. Flowering from July to September these wonderfully honey-scented flowers provide welcome late colour in the garden and attract butterflies.
Compact (for a buddleia) robust and fast growing, B. davidii Wisteria Lane is also useful as a screening plant.
