Hydrangea paniculata Pinky-Winky is a showy garden hydrangea with two-tone white and pink flowerheads. Developing from pale green buds, the long, cone-shaped flowers comprise loose, starry florets that begin as white and get pinker and pinker as they mature. It has an upright, spreading habit, with pointed, dark green leaves, and the branches sway gently in the breeze. Ideal for giving much-needed freshness to the garden in late summer and autumn.
Deciduous shrubs, paniculate hydrangeas are natives of China and Japan and are very hardy. It likes to have cool roots, so does well behind a wall. Hydrangea Pinky-Winky looks great in a pot if kept pruned, but water it well, especially in terracotta. Plant this fast-growing upright variety in a row as a wonderful flowering hedge, or as a lovely specimen plant.
