Rosa Charles Darwin® (Auspeet), from David Austin, is a beautiful English Shrub Rose with large, cupped yellow flowers tending almost towards a mellow old gold hue. Such rich colouring is perfect for punctuating a mixed border. The flowers are very full and rounded at first, later opening to shallow cups held in large clusters.
Very fragrant, the flowers have a soft floral tea aroma with aspects of pure lemon. Blooming almost continuously throughout the summer months, as well as being a repeat flowerer, this Leander Hybrid is reliable and has good disease resistance. A compact, bushy shrub, Rosa Charles Darwin is a great addition to both formal and informal planting schemes; it also makes a wonderful rose hedge.
Named after the naturalist Charles Darwin who was born in Shropshire, not far from David Austin’s nursery.
