From David Austin, Rosa Claire Austin® (Ausprior) is the perfect rose to climb up a Cotswold stone wall, a pillar, an obelisk or round a doorway. Its growth is upright, strong and especially healthy, and it climbs willingly. The matt green foliage is the perfect foil for the attractive lemon buds which open into large cup-shaped creamy white flowers, the petals of which are arranged in satisfyingly concentric circles. In addition, R. Claire Austin is also repeat flowering and will bloom late into the summer.
Not only robust and freeflowering, the Claire Austin rose is particularly fragrant. Its strong, warm myrrh scent has accents of vanilla, heliotrope and meadowsweet.
R. Claire Austin is named after David Austin's daughter; her late father founded the renowned rose-breeding company now run by her brother, David Austin Junior. Claire herself is an expert in the field of perennials, notably irises and peonies.
