Rosa Scepter'd Isle® (Ausland) is a free flowering, small shrub rose from renowned grower David Austin. It has soft pink flowers with a central cluster of yellow stamens and a strong fragrance of myrrh. With excellent disease resistance, it is a healthy, bushy, upright rose, with continuous repeat flowering. It is an excellent choice for a small garden or patio pot.

The title of the rose is inspired by words from Shakespeare’s history play: Richard II. In scene I, John of Gaunt exhorts the hapless future Richard II to change his ways in order to protect both the throne and England. The deathbed request falls on deaf ears, but the words and their meaning have captivated hearts for centuries as it encourages patriotism with the same conviction as William Blake’s Jerusalem.

‘This royal throne of kings, this sceptre’d isle,|This earth of majesty, this seat of Mars,|This other Eden, demi-paradise,’
