Commonly known as a Crown Windflower, the Anemone coronaria ‘Bordeaux’ provides an exquisitely beautiful shot of colour in a spring border. Its flower buds emerge from a neck-ruff of frilly, deeply cut leaves (attractive in their own right), and open to reveal a particularly glorious flower. In a rich burgundy colour, the large, velvety textured petals surround a purple/black eye comprising a dome of stamens. The effect is lovely and makes them a popular flower for the cutting garden.
