The classic corkscrew hazel, with lime green catkins in spring and edible nuts in the autumn, Corylus avellana makes a fantastic specimen shrub in the garden, or a featured plant in a container on the terrace.

As well as enjoying them in the garden, you can use the curly stems in flower arranging, they look particularly stylish in winter arrangements.
