Euphorbia characias wulfenii is a shrubby evergreen spurge from the Mediterranean with upright stems carrying narrow, mid-green leaves. Showy heads of lime green bracts with red-brown eyes appear from late winter and last into summer.
Edwardian garden designer Gertrude Jekyll described this sun-loving, evergreen shrub as 'one of the grandest of plants'.
Plant in beds and borders as a contrast in foliage form and texture. Especially striking alongside dark leaved evergreen shrubs or ivy clad walls. Equally at home in a contemporary minimalist or gravel garden.
