Lavandula angustifolia Hidcote (formerly L. officinalis Hidcote) is a compact and fragrant English lavender that features deep violet flowers and silver grey foliage. Ideal for use in borders and dwarf hedges, it will attract bees, butterflies and other nectar-loving insects. 

Increasingly lavender, in its role as a herb, is being used in recipes, not just for puddings, biscuits  and fudge, but also for use with pork recipes.
