Early in the spring this perennial produces delicately pretty, white panicles of star-shaped cream flowers. Low growing and slow spreading, the margins of the palmately incised foliage turns from a soft salmon pink in the late spring to a lovely deep red (as the name suggests), in the autumn. Indigenous to the Orient, Mudkenia rossi Crimson Fans is a member of the saxifrage family.
This shade loving, clump-forming plant provides useful ground cover under deciduous shrubs, such as roses, and trees. It is equally lovely in light shade in a border or wooded area, as an edging plant or in a mixed container.
