Pulmonarias are low-growing hardy perennials that attract bees. Blue Ensign is a semi-evergreen variety with unspotted dark green ovate leaves and sapphire-violet blue funnel-shaped flowers. The foliage remains all summer as long as the plant doesn’t dry out, and forms a compact mound. A semi-evergreen variety that will remain evergreen in mild winters.
Blue Ensign is a dependable and showy spring-blooming perennial for a shady spot. Resistant to disease, it is ideal for adding interest to woodland areas, or use as an edging plant along a shady path. Pair with hostas, ferns and brunneras.
