Paeonia lactiflora Sarah Bernhardt produces exquisitely showy bowl-shaped double rose-pink flowers with ruffled inner petals in early to mid-summer. The flowers are up to 20cm across and also fragrant. This peony, a herbaceous perennial, has deeply divided foliage and is ideal for under-planting roses in a cottage garden flower bed.
