Grown for its showy, tropical foliage, the markings on Calathea's leaves look like they have been painted on. Known as the Rattlesnake Plant, Calathea has long, broad, sword-like, pointed leaves, light green with regular mid-green dots and splodges in a dramatic pattern resembling the skin of a rattlesnake. The reverse of the rippled-edge leaf is a contrasting dark maroon, velvet-soft to the touch.
Calatheas will quickly fill a pot through spreading rhizotomous roots.
Care: Prefers low light. Do not use leaf shine products on a Calathea.
