A striking winter shrub, producing hundreds of clumps of curious small fragrant, wavy, spider-like, rich yellow blooms on the bare branches.

A very choice large, low branching shrub, and one of the botanical world's most amazing winter sights. It is a relatively slow-growing plant, but makes up for this with its wonderful autumnal show of richly coloured shades of foliage in red, orange and yellow. The flowering display of a mature 'Witch Hazel' in winter is simply astounding. It will thrive in most positions, but dislikes shallow limey soils. In these conditions, it is best to grow in a very large patio pot in ericaceous compost and pruned hard directly after following flowering.
