We delight in sharing products which we feel are a little bit different, whether it's an element of its design, or we can't recall seeing something similar. The Brussels candle from Baobab is one such joy. Eye-catching, elegant (even a little bit decadent), the vessel is handblown glass and is decorated with a hand-printed black and gold design inspired by the work of Victor Horta, a visionery architect reknowned for his Art Nouveau and Art Deco European architecture.

The design celebrates the paisley pattern and also the intricate work of Horta's iconic cast-iron vaulted balconies in the designer's native Brussels. With the fragrance of sandalwood and cypress, this Baobab candle has to be one of our favourite homewares of the moment at Burford.

The Art of Burning: Baobab's advice

Always burn your candle until the whole surface becomes liquid. This step may take a long time, especially during the first burning. When the entire top of the wax is liquid, do not burn it longer than one hour. The top layer of liquid wax should never exceed one centimeter in height. Never burn your candle more than the maximum burning time indicated in the candle’s instructions. Never burn it down totally and systematically leave one centimeter at the bottom.
