This unusual Kilim Chaise Longue is an inspired, new take on the glamour and warmth of antique kilim furniture. Designed as a traditional chaise longue, the specification is, however, modern, so it is beautiful, hard wearing, and comfortable – a happy marriage of tradition and technology.

Chaise longues, literally long chairs, have represented luxury and refinement, particularly in France, since the 16th century, and were traditionally upholstered in the finest materials. Here the idea has been brilliantly extended to recreate the form.

Kilims, hand-woven, woollen rugs without a knotted pile, have been made in Turkey for centuries. A crucial part of nomadic life, they lined (and line) the floors and walls of tents as well as houses and were highly valued as dowry pieces. Not only are they attractive, but they are famously hardwearing and as a result ideal as a chair covering. Here the modern kilim is in a Flame Stick pattern.
