An extremely versatile piece of furniture this Small Kilim Stool has all the glamour and warmth of antique furniture, with the advantage of being brand new. Sturdy, but easy to move, it is perfect as a footstool and can double up as an attractive perch for small children or grandchildren.

Beneath the kilim the upholstered seat is not sprung but is generously padded, the bottom of the stool is finished with a continuous single row of brass tacks and the sturdy wooden legs are decoratively turned and varnished.

Kilims – hand-woven, woollen rugs without a knotted pile – have been made in Turkey for centuries. A crucial part of nomadic life, they lined (and line) the floors and walls of tents as well as houses, and were highly valued as dowry pieces. Not only are they attractive, but they are famously hardwearing and as a result ideal for upholstery.
