A great ornamental indoor plant for a larger space, Ficus lyrata makees a superb focal point. With leaves shaped like a violin, or fiddle, the Ficus lyrata (syn. Ficus pandurata) is unsurprisingly commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig. It has very large, glossy, oval semi-lobed leaves with prominent veins. The thin stems are tall and it has a high branching form with no lower leaves.
As it comes from western Africa, Ficus prefer lots of light and high humidity. As a houseplant, it will reach three metres at maturity, in 10–15 years, although the height can be restricted with topping.
