A great ornamental indoor plant for a larger space, Ficus, also known as the ornamental fig tree) makes a superb focal point. With leaves shaped like a violin, or fiddle, the Ficus is unsurprisingly commonly known as the Fiddle Leaf Fig. It has very large, glossy, oval semi-lobed leaves with prominent veins. The thin stems are tall.
Growth habits vary; our illustrations show F. lyrata (syn. Ficus pandurata), which has a branching form.
As they come from western Africa, Ficus prefer lots of light and high humidity. As a houseplant, it may reach three metres at maturity, in 10–15 years, although the height can be restricted with topping.
Please note, pot illustrated is not included.
