We are delighted to have secured extremely limited stock of this rare philodendron, for purchase in store only.
Please note, the variegation on the leaves will vary greatly from plant to plant.
This is another unusual example of a highly sought-after philodendron. Not only is it rare, but it is remarkably beautiful.
Nick-named “Rojo” after the colour of its new leaves, which unfurl into a deep shiny red, the Philodendron Red Congo is feverishly collected for its colour. As the leaves mature, they fade to a deep burgundy green colour and occasionally produce beautiful red flowers too if looked after carefully.
Native to South America, the Philodendron likes warm temperatures and is very sensitive when exposed to extreme temperatures. If kept in the right conditions, these striking plants can grow as wide as they can high, despite not being of the climbing variety.
Philodendrons are aesthetically pleasing, and therefore boost our mood as well as purifying the air by removing formaldehyde, a known carcinogenic commonly found in paper products, carpeting, paint and particle board.
