Using wonderfully loose brush strokes that bring a dynamism to the painting, Eleanor has created a series of semi-abstract scenes that perfectly evokes the sultry heat of a summer's day in the garden.
This painting, Summer's Day 3, is more abstracted than the other two in the series, although it is interesting to compare. In all three paintings she offers a view through, perhaps, a conservatory into a garden. We see stylised lawn and trees in the distance, while the paraphernalia of life that is so often assembled in a summer garden forms a lively cohesion: parasol, table, chairs and flowers in a vase. Full of joy, visually the painting dances before our eyes.
Eleanor is based in Oxfordshire, she graduated in 1998 from Manchester Metropolitan University, where she studied Illustration with Animation. She then worked for a decade in London as a professional free-lance illustrator, her clients including Unilever, Waitrose, Radio Times, and The Telegraph. Her illustration has been exhibited at Images 30 and Images 31-A01 The Best of Contemporary Illustration and the 2005 Artist and Illustrators Exhibition. In 2011 Eleanor and her husband moved to the Oxfordshire village where she grew up. She now takes pleasure in watching her children having the same carefree upbringing she enjoyed. Focusing now on her own paintings, she works from her studio and regularly exhibits to a growing following.
