The words that run through the paint layers are:

‘Walk gently through the world and know its beauty throughout life.
It’s rich learning of
Clearing and cleansing
Restoring and renewing
Energising and strengthening.

Walking with a balance of gratitude and forward movement.
Dissolved judgement, open heart, open mind.'

–Inspired by an Apache blessing

'Living surrounded by such beautiful views this connected with me at soul level. It reminds me to take the time to remember to be grateful for every experience in life positive or negative and to acknowledge the process of moving from one energetic state to another by our intention.

'The views in this painting are over Cleeve Hill escarpment, where the views are wide and the land is open to the weather. There is one lone tree that leans into the wind embracing all that comes its way and serves as a valuable reminder to live in the moment, embrace all and everyone placed in our path with grace and gratitude for what they bring.'

Cheltenham-based landscape artist Jayne Tricker is passionate about drawing and painting directly from life, getting to the truth of a subject by looking at it as if she’s seeing it for the first time with no expectations. As an artist she feels her objective is to channel the truth of what she’s seeing and feeling, to provoke more of a connection with the viewer.

She explores using text and image together, as this combines both the right creative brain and the left analytical brain.

The painting is created using a series of thin painted oil layers that she writes through after each painting session. The writing and patterns serve as an emotional connection to the landscape and enliven the surface of the painting when the viewer is close up, almost disappearing when viewed from a distance.
