This is the ultimate in bohemian languor. More laid-back even than a planter’s chair, this Adirondack Lounger is the last word in stream-lined comfort. Made from mango wood, it is hand painted with an attractively distressed finish. The wide armrests, ergonomically curved seat, extended back and shaped foot stool (separate but included with the chair) encourage elegant but luxurious reclining in the garden.

Mango wood is a durable, densely grained, semi-hardwood, which is a highly sustainable, since mango trees grown for fruit need to be replaced after ten years.

The distinctive serpentine – almost art nouveau – lines of the chair refer to its origins in 1903, when Thomas Lee designed this type of lounger and named it after the nearby Adirondack Mountain Range in northern USA.

Care: They are hand painted, and of course the paint will age gracefully and weather over time, but that is its patina, and its charm. After a damp winter, they can suffer a little from a light black mould, but this is superficial and just needs a good wipe down with a sponge and cloth just like any furniture. If you want to keep your chair in tip top condition then pop under cover or in the conservatory over the damper, winter months.
