Insights
Rattan is a fast growing relation of bamboo with a vine-like habit, grown in Asia. Unlike bamboo, it has a solid core making it stronger and easier to shape once steamed. It has been woven into wicker furniture since classical Egyptian times and is particularly associated with summer garden or holiday furniture because it allows the through-flow of air.
