Bearing an abundance of fluorescent orange hair with arms daintily positioned on either side of the figure’s crossed legs, Ducker’s ‘Life Size Sitting’ emanates radiance and life through the subject’s physical demeanour. It is important to the artist that her sculptures remain featureless in order for this physicality to be fully celebrated. The translucency and form of her work enables a range of dramatic shadows to be cast, transmuting the three dimensionality of her works into a two dimensional silhouette, closely resembling an etching or drawing.

Insights
Inspired by the artist’s keen interest in the human form, Ducker frequently observes how people express themselves physically, and uses these studies as the foundation for her pieces. Additionally, Ducker often experiments with different materials such as found objects and new techniques, finding this intrigue often leads to a plethora of new ideas.
Artist
Well practised in life drawing, Ducker has long expressed an appreciation of the human form and the emotional dynamics of human nature. Her training as a jeweller led Ducker to experiment with wire as a medium for sculpting the human form, capturing a piece that explores ephemerality in emotion.
