notes

A Christmas tree is an integral part of any festive decorating – as the tree is often the first festive ‘guest’ to arrive and one of the last to leave, the important ritual of choosing and dressing a tree is one that is personal to each home. Popular as a Christmas tree in America, the Serbian Spruce is notable for its deep green foliage, which has upturned tips and a slightly silvery grey underside to its needles. Please, note, the lights and stand featured are not included. Photographed size: 210cm-240cm

Insights

A smaller relative of the Norway Spruce, the Serbian Spruce (Picea Omorika) is the only spruce that has flat needles like a fir or pine. These also emit a pleasant, sweet scent. Slim and columnar for shedding snow and withstanding the wind in its natural environment, this is a useful upright specimen for use in smaller spaces.

Details

To fulfil customer expectations Burford Garden Co. carefully selects its Christmas trees from high quality, sustainable crops, cultivated in the British Isles. In common with all grown purchases, there will be minor variations from tree to tree. The images provided are a guide only, and your tree is likely to look slightly different from the image, but its quality should not be in question. Equally, the measurement cannot be precise. Trees are measured from the base of the trunk to the point at which the highest layer of branches is closed.

Care

Your Christmas tree will last longer if in a room below 18ºC; avoid positioning near a radiator or other source of heat. As soon as your tree arrives, remove the netting, shake it out and saw 2cm from the bottom and place in a bucket of water. The water taken up during this period will hydrate the tree properly. Once positioned, ensure that the water reservoir in the stand is topped up daily with cold water. For more detailed care advice, take a look at our handy guide.
