notes

'White Horse Hill' is a vivid, textured landscape painting capturing the rolling landscape of the North Wessex Downs. Filled with warm tones applied in thick impasto layers across the fields and the skies of its subject, one can just pick out the glint of the Uffington White Horse on the left hand side of the background hill.

Insights

Using oil paints and palette knives to create impressionist-style paintings, Aker works directly from nature ‘en plein air’ wherever possible, specifically during his walks through Cotswold towns and landscapes. Larger paintings are then finished off in his studio, cleverly coined ‘The Loovre’ due to the location being a conversion of an old public toilet.

Artist

Rupert is a landscape painter, based in Painswick. His aim is to hold regular pop-up exhibitions in locations throughout the Cotswolds, presenting his art in the landscape that inspired them. Often selling paintings straight off the easel, Aker thrives off the notion of people purchasing freshly produced works of art as they would buy a freshly cut bouquet of flowers.
