notes
A fascinating portrait of Cedric Morris and his partner Arthur Lett-Haines, a couple who were hugely influential across the spheres of gardening and cookery as well as art. Both artists, they founded an art school in Suffolk, where pupils (including Lucian Freud) learned by encouragement rather than formal tuition. Lett ran the school and was a fantastic cook while Morris became an award-winning plantsman and breeder of poppies and irises.
Insights

At the centre of the Modern British art scene, Morris became a sought-after painter of landscapes and flowers and birds while Lett was hailed as Britain’s first Surrealist. This book is a revealing and well researched insight into their lives and the British avant-garde at that time.
