The annual broad bean (Vicia faba) Aquadulce is an early maturing variety of round, tender beans, with very good cold tolerance. A semi compact plant, it bears high yields of pods containing 6-7 white beans per pod, which are held horizontally for easy picking.
Insights

Old seeds can be ploughed in as green manure- wonderful for adding nitrogen to the soil.

Care
  • Do not plant in waterlogged or frozen soil
  • Plant seeds in well-watered and finely prepared soil where they will crop. Plant at 5cm (2in) depth, approximately 25cm (9in) apart. 
  • Seedlings will appear in 2-3 weeks, water well until plants are established. 
  • Support with canes or twigs as plants mature.
  • Pinch off the tips of the shoots (once pods start forming) to delay black bean aphid infestation and improve yield of beans
  • For the sweetest beans pick pods while they are still small
