notes
Haku-Okan translates as ‘white royal crown’ in Japanese, and that’s just what this clematis has at the heart of its stunning violet flowers, in the form of striking creamy white stamens. The deciduous climber flowers from May - September and is perfect for growing up a trellis or through a tree where its large flowers can be enjoyed.
Insights

With its strong stems, Haku-Okan also makes a great cut flower. Clematis have their roots in the Far East. The first example, C.Viticella, arrived in Europe in the mid-16th century. Two centuries later, the Victorians bred numerous varieties and their popularity continues.

Care

As Clematis like cool roots, try to position so that the roots will be shaded from the sun by another plant. Bear in mind the space they will need to climb and provide a suitable structure - trellis, wall, fence or other plant - to scramble through. Minor pruning to tidy in early spring and after flowering
