notes

Wisteria sinensis, also called Wisteria chinensis, creates the superbly luscious late spring display that is so traditional throughout the Cotswolds. This long living climber with woody stems produces a mass of pinnate leaves deepening from bright to deep green. Before the foliage appears, dramatic cascades of pea-like flowers drip colour and scent down the walls against which they are conventionally trained.

Insights

The attractive foliage of this ornamental vine emerges bronze in spring and matures to bright green then buttery yellow in autumn; the flowers mature into velvety seed pods.
