Insights
The word ‘rosolio’ comes from the Latin ‘ros olis’ which translates as ‘morning dew’, as traditionally its ingredients were harvested early in the morning when the concentration of flavour was highest, and the crop was heavy with dew. Before the appearance of vermouth and amaro in Italy, rosolio was the main drink enjoyed the king of Savoia.
Rich in essential oil, and regarded as the finest of the citrus family, Italicus Rosolio di Bergamotto only uses I.G.P. Bergamot from a UNESCO protected area in Calabria, the thin strip of coastline that runs from the Tyrrhenian coast to the shores of the Ionian Sea.
