The sharp edges ensure that the spade slices through the soil, with a lip at the edge of the blade saving your toes! The head is from work-hardened tin bronze, curved in two planes for additional strength, while the shaft is made from steam bent ash and the T shaped handle from beech.

Copper is a deterrent for slugs and snails and will not rust. Made by artisan coppersmiths, this spade will develop a patina over time and the beech and ash woods are responsibly sourced from European forests. Furthermore, as you work you will enrich the soil with copper trace elements and thereby provide your plants with essential nutrients.
