Also known as ‘Heartsease’, the wild pansy is a short-lived perennial bearing small flowers of white, blue, purple and yellow or in combination. Both flowers and leaves are edible. In Ancient Greece the flower was seen as symbol of the God of love, Eros, and the plant has a long history of use in traditional medicine and cosmetic products, for its soothing and moisturising properties.
