notes

The renowned breeder David Austin’s, Rosa Bathsheba® (Auschimbley) is highly prized for the subtle two-tonality of its large blooms which shade from a soft yellow to rich apricot pink and are repeat flowering. A smaller but vigorous climber, the strong stems are covered with almost satin finished foliage, the perfect foil to the glorious rosette-like flowers. Image courtesy of David Austin Roses.

Please note, our roses are available to purchase all year round, so depending on the time of year your rose may either arrive in bloom or have been pruned or deadheaded appropriately for the season.

Insights

Rosa Bathsheba® has been inspired, like so many of David Austin’s roses, by a literary heroine, in this case from Thomas Hardy’s Wessex novel, Far from the Madding Crowd. A beautiful but feisty farm owner, Bathsheba Everdene, overcomes the vicissitudes of life and love, turning in the end to trusty Gabriel Oak (also a rose).
